FIREFIT Portuguese experiment of DIH2, supported by PRODUTECH, ends successfully
The European Project DIH2 - Pan-European Network of Robotics DIHs for Agile Production, in which PRODUTECH is the Portuguese DIH partner, supported in the 1st Open Call 11 experiments, being FIREFIT one of the selected ones.
The project FIREFIT - Fiware Ready Quality Control for Packaging Systems in the Food IndusTry, had as main goal to develop an application to monitor production in real time, in order to automatically guarantee the quality of the curing process of ham and the packaging process, minimizing waste and associated costs.
FIREFIT ended in July 2021, having been an exemplary project in the results achieved. The project lasted approximately 1 year and included the Introsys SA RDI team in the development of the solution, integrating the technology in the company A.Pires Lourenço & Filhos (in Castelo Branco) - Ham producer.
For Introsys this was an opportunity to interact with other European companies and entities, namely the technical support from FIWARE, as well as the mentoring of experts from other DIHs besides PRODUTECH, such as IMR - Irish Manufacturing Research - from Ireland, and RoboValley - from the Netherlands.
For A. Pires Lourenço this was a great opportunity to improve the packaging sector, with the use of robots, as well as the quality control of the already packaged product.
